Zélie-Julie D'Leindre (Blois 1795 – Paris 1858), A vase of flowers on a marble table, 1819, signed and dated lower left, gouache on vellum, 59.5 x 43.2cm (23 ½ x 16 ¾in)

Colnaghi and Colnaghi Elliott Master Drawings are thrilled to once again be participating in Frieze Masters. They will be exhibiting together in the same booth, B3.

Colnaghi will, as it continuously strives to do, be placing emphasis on work by women artists. These include three exquisite tempura paintings on vellum by Giovanna Garzoni (1600-1670), depicting figs, pumpkins and a vase of flowers respectively. To have three works by Garzoni hung alongside each other is a rare sight. Elsewhere in Old Masters, we will be displaying a magnificent oil on copper work by Hans Rottenhammer (1564-1625), depicting a bacchanal, notable for its detail and vividness of tone.

Showcasing the breadth of our offering, Colnaghi will also be exhibiting a selection of works from the 20th century, which include a citrus-toned still life by Georges Braque (1882-1963), a bold, primary-coloured oil abstraction on newsprint by Willem de Kooning (1904-1997) and a trio of charming ceramics by Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) from the late ‘50s and early ‘60s.

Within the realm of Antiquities, we will be displaying a selection of obsidian and flint Aztec knife blades, a pair of Apulian epiphyses and more.

Colnaghi Elliott Master Drawings will be exhibiting, as always, stellar examples of works on paper, with a particular focus this year on portraiture and a diverse range of sitters.
