Guests joined us for an immersive Art Retreat during the Florence Biennale, from 27th - 29th September. They explored the history of collecting through the lens of specialists, gained an understanding of conservation techniques, and discovered the latest technological developments in the world of art and finance. The course was delivered as a joint venture between Colnaghi Foundation - the charitable and academic arm of the world’s oldest commercial art gallery - and Stonehage Fleming, the international multi-family office and advisory.
Drawing upon the expertise of both institutions and outside specialists, study-mornings introduced participants to the keys required to unlock a deeper understanding of art, with conversations on attribution techniques, important historic collections, and Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence for art. Interactive workshops were followed by expert led visits to art and heritage sites as well as private collections, many of which are closed to the public. Lunches and receptions in the quintessential Italian tradition were held at sites across Florence. Each thoughtfully structured day of this retreat provided insights into the history of art and building collections, in the birthplace of the Renaissance.
