TEFAF Maastricht 2019

14th Mar 2019 - 24th Mar 2019
Colnaghi returns to TEFAF Maastricht in 2019 with an outstanding group of master paintings and sculptures, together with a notable selection of ancient art. A leading highlight is a pair of exceptionally rare, almost life-size statues of the Goddess Flora and of a Camillus from the 2nd to 3rd century AD, completed with later 16th century additions and restorations, which have been shown together in the same important Ducal collection for over 400 years. Important paintings include Virgin with sleeping child by Francisco de Zurbarán (1598 – 1664) which is signed and dated 1659, and which was executed soon after the artist had moved to Madrid. Another leading highlight is Ecce Homo, one of the most outstanding paintings by Luis de Morales, known as El Divino (circa 1509 - 1586). Formerly in the prestigious collection of the Marquis of Remisa (Gaspar de Remisa Miarons, 1784- 1847), it was shown in the first exhibition devoted to Morales at the Museo del Prado in 1917 when it was loaned from the collection of the Count of Albox.
